I recently tried to change the name of my database in VWD 2008, and now I cannot make diagrams in SqlServer in VWD. I get a permission error, then it says I do not have the files do I want to add them , then I get 0x534 error. Anyone know what this is and how to fix it?

Most of the forums and threads I have read, do not give me info on how to fix this. They either give me an alter authorization or other method, but under the properties I am still the dbowner, and I cannot make any changes because it is greyed out.

    Any Suggestions

    Hi Bobby,

Could you please provide more details? Does the error message look like this?

"Could not obtain information about windows NT group/user 'XXX\XXX', error code 0x534”

    Or

"Database diagram support objects cannot be installed because this database does not have a valid owner.”

If so, please refer to the following threads to fix it:

    First

"Database diagram support objects cannot be installed because this database does not have a valid owner.”

    Then

"Do want to make yourself the owner or impersonate ..."

    Then

"Could not obtain information about windows NT group/user 'XXX\XXX', error code 0x534”

I think it all started when I tried to rename my database, or I ran a registry fix and that is what did it.

I also checked the ownership and it is correct

I cannot make any changes to the properties dialogue in VWD 2008. Also, the dbowner is the name of my user, and the same one I created the db with.

In this instance I had to reinstall vwd2008, and sql server in order to fix this problem.
