I got my start in .NET with Professional ASP.NET 3.5: In C# and VB, and am ready to take the next step, by doing more in .net WITHOUT relying so heavily on the wizards.

So, I'm looking for my next .NET book.  Looking for one that doesn't rely on the wizards as much.  One that can open my eyes to some of the mysteries of the codebehind... What do you suggest?

Try the book C# in Depth.. It's really help me to understand the linq, lamda expression, extension method as well as this book has lot of examples(comparison between 1.1 to 3.0)

C# in Depth is designed to bring you to a new level of programming skill. It dives deeply into key C# topics—in particular the new ones. You'll learn to reuse algorithms in a type-safe way with C# 2 generics and expand the functionality of existing classes and interfaces using C# 3 extension methods. Tricky issues become clear in author Jon Skeet's crisp, easy-to-follow explanations and snappy, pragmatic examples. With this book under your belt, you will easily learn—and then master—new frameworks and platforms.

It really depends where you want to take this

For example visual studio 2010 will be concentrating into silverlight asp.net mvc

    wpf,  ria data services, etc

There are a number of good videos along with books that concentrate

on these technologies. I would study these than find a good book

    Hi,

    billsm:

visual studio 2010 will be concentrating into silverlight asp.net mvc

    wpf,  ria data services, etc

There will be also a big focus on Webforms 4.0 and ASP.NET ajax 4.0 besides these for web developers.

Besides a book I also strongly recommend that you take a look at the wealth of information (both written and screencasts) under the Learn tab.

    Grz, Kris.
