Thanks for keeping us up to date. I think it's been down for a week or so and I've been meaning to report it. Just goes to show I must be one of the few dinosours that prefers the nntp interface. Just can't stand web based discussions - for serious lists.

I am guessing it's been down since October 15, which is when we had done some infrastructure change.  You are right, there aren't a lot of people who use NNTP.  Sometimes it feels like you and Juan and occasionally Mike are it. :-)

It could be that nobody knows about this feature. I just spotted it in the footer of the forum as an nntp link and tried it out. Couldn't get it working though but from this thread I guess its actually broken and not just me being stupid.

Will try again next week I guess .... :)

You are right, it's broken (i.e. it's not you, it's us(.  The problem is that we have moved to ARR for load balancing, and ARR does not work with NNTP.  What we are going to do is introduce a new domain for NNTP use.  We are working on this and are trying to have it in place ASAP.

I thought it was a brand new feature when I spotted it. Has the nntp link always been there next to the rss feed in the category pages?

I guess I always use the unanswered / my posts pages so i could have missed it...

The new domain for NNTP access to the ASP.NET Forums is: nntp-forums.asp.net.  This is available and working right now.  We will update the instructions page at http://forums.asp.net/nntp.aspx soon and make an announcement about the change once the instructions are updated.

Hehe, its kind of cool to use a newsgroup again... I haven't used them since duke nukem 3d newsgroups were around...

However now that I have tried it out I am satisfied that I prefer the forums interface. I have to specifically browse into a forum rather than seeing all unanswered / active / my posts.

Oh well, I hope the other guys get plenty of use out if this :)
