Not sure it really warrants an entire article or how-to.
I installed IIS but when I try to run it I get "Server Error in '/' Application" and authentication mode="Windows"
A detailed step by step set of instructions would have shown me how to avoid this typically cryptic error message, that is why I need it and why I asked for it.
I would say in general that to tell someone that they don't need what they clearly say they need is not helpful, though I expect this from IT folks, right after "are you sure it is plugged in?" and "did you try a reboot?"
I looked all over IIS.NET but could not find simple instructions.
I don't think Windows Authentication Mode is available in Home Premium but this should not stop me from just running a simple web page, right?
I do want to set up a simple local intranet. Can I do this with Home Premium?
I have done this kind of thing with every version of Windows since Win 98 Personal Web Server and I have had to *** around with error messages each time. I can't be the only one who could use this.
