    The New Editor is not working for me in IE7. I can't create a new post.

    Problem: When I click Reply or Quick Reply and Write a New Post, anything that involved the editor, the editor window loads but I cannot type in the text ares.

    I am posting this from FireFox 3.

    I don't have IE7 but I can run IE8 fine in both standards and compliance mode.

    Thanks

    Hi Max,

    This is a known issue.  We'll take a look at this soon, but in the meantime, you will need to click into the textbox, at the beginning of the first line, to see the cursor.

    I just noticed that the editor also has a few accessibility shortcuts to allow navigating the editor interface

  • http://wiki.moxiecode.com/index.php/TinyMCE:Accessibility
  • Jump to Tool Buttons Alt-Q
  • Jump to Editor Alt-Z,
  • Jump to Element Path Alt-X.
  • So if you hit Alt-Z, the cursor seems to jump right into the editor

     Hmm, I've been using the tab key to get the caret into the window.

    The tab key worked for me too, but i had to hit it 57 times.  I'm guessing that your starting point must be different from mine and that it takes you fewer keystrokes.  Possibly an idiosyncrasy between browser versions?

    First I click in the editor window but do not see the caret.  Then I hit tab.

    The other hot keys you mentioned don't seem to do much for me (IE8 with JavaScript errors).

    57 times?  Try using your middle finger instead of your index finger.  That should apply more force to the key, which results in more electrons being generated and sent down the wire.  If that doesn't help there is always your thumb and as a last resort...your big toe.  Surprised

    That initial click was the trick.  Once i did that then a single tab keystroke placed the caret into the edit box.  I'm also using IE8 (win7) but I'm not getting any javascript errors.  It sounds like you could still be bumping into an old script (possibly in a proxy cache?) or there's something local to your environment blocking some of the scripts.

    Yeah, it's how I try to keep things secure.

    I keep scripting turned off in the "Internet Zone" and scripting is turned on for "Trusted Sites".

    If this site refers to other sites that provide scripts they are probably being blocked.

    Re: System.Data...   http://forums.asp.net/p/1421189/3265839.aspx#3265839

    It seems that handling source code in the new editor is really buggy.  This example happens on Windows Vista Business SP1 with IE7.

    Here is the raw source code:          return View(_db.ArticleSet.ToList());

    When I highlight                                    View
    instead of this in source code:        return View(_db.ArticleSet.ToList());

    I get this:   return <STRONG><SPAN style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff00">View</SPAN></STRONG>(_db.ArticleSet.ToList());

    return View(_db.ArticleSet.ToList());

    versus:

    return View(_db.ArticleSet.ToList());

    PLEASE NOTE:  the source code previews okay; but the displayed completed post is mangled.
