    gerrylowry:
while waiting, tried chrome:  sign does not work with chrome ... clicked buttom many times, never got the sign in screen.

I just signed in with Chrome.  Didnt run into any problems myself.  New editor popped right up too (yeah! no more user-agent trickery).

sounds like you might have something odd going on with your pc ...  iexplore pagefaulting, power glitches...

ps: this post was from Chrome

Hi Mike ~~ the power glitches are from the power going off twice today ~~ not usually a problem for me because I use a 1500va APC UPS ~~ my DSL modem dropped which caused some frustration but no direct impact.  The page faults are because I've only got 512 MB in that computer.  If I had $100, I'd replace that with 4GB ~~ for now, I'll just have to suffer with the page faults.  Some programs seem to churn more than others.  It's not always clear how they get started.  Example, I had to kill Jave Quickstart (JQS.exe) which has a horrible reputation for sucking up resources.  I think a recent Java update must have brought it back to life.  SQL Server seems to like to do a lot when it should be doing nothing at all since we are talking about a computer used mostly for e-mail.  So many mysteries, so little time.

Before, mainly only IE7 behaved well.  I hoped they not sacrificied compatibility with IE7 to gain compatibility with everything else.

Hey I have another feature difference between IE8/Win7 and FF3/Vista

    In this thread:

The code pasted turns itself into a three line output and wraps itself around on IE8 (ie - it has lines 1, 2, 3 in the gutter and line 3 is very long and wraps round to form another 40 or so lines)

On FF3 this morning I come back and its a two line output with no wrapping on FF3 (ie - it has line 1 in the gutter, splits on the two <br> tags and then travels off right into infinity with a very long horizontal scroll bar).

Means that the message is basically unreadable for FF3 readers (however View Plain is a usable workaround - just not colour highlighting)

I guess its just something to watch out for after the 2.0 upgrade.

It looks like that error text was pasted into the post using the code paste with C# as the selected language.  Since it's not actually c# code (not actually code at all), using the syntax highlighter isn't really appropriate for it.  So i snipped the pre tag out that triggers the syntaxhighlighter and it turned into the error string that the member originally posted.

    @ mbanavige

    mbanavige:

    gerrylowry:
OLD  EDITOR:   I stretch *this* textarea Window ~~ size persists.        Not in the new editor.

I am not having any problems with the editor remembering its size after i stretch it to become larger. Seems to work the same as before.

Not sure why but for me, mostly it forgets.  Occassionally, it remembers.  I've as of yet to determine why.  gerry

I am guessing there was some update to the text editor because my spell check button is back on the message toolbar, top row, third icon from the right where it used to be until it disappeared.

(for me, the good thing about its disappearance is that I now know that, via right click, I can use ieSpell outside (and inside too) of forums.asp.net.  This means I can use spell check via ieSpell in quite a number of applications.     So much to learn, so little time)

    Another issue I noticed:

I clicked "quote" when replying to this thread and when I posted it up it had two copies of the source code snippet.

    mbanavige:
... i much prefer the behavior of the new editor. If we copy the part of that page that is actually a link though, then we get this:

#21 | Validation with the Data Annotation ValidatorsView in VB or C#

So it doesn't seem like a bug to me.

Actually, Mike, I just discovered that the *new* editor is BUGGY when it comes to copying links; please see http://forums.asp.net/p/1444886/3282888.aspx#3282888.

In fact, the link that you copied above is broken ... neither of us noticed that because we are used to links being copied correctly.
