I have just upgraded from Crystal Reports version 10 to Crystal Reports 2008.  In the old version when I wanted a total number of items at the bottom of my report I would simply choose insert count and select the field that I wanted to count.  As I changed my search criteria and the number of items in the report  changed the total count would also change.

With the new version, I did the same thing  and when I change the search criteria I get the correct items on the report, but the total count is always the same:  It is the number of total items in my database.  HELP!

I thinks its due to the report is not reintialized. so, try to reinitialize the report and you'll get the exact output.

    how you are doing that.

have u installed the CR2008 and opened the existing report or you have designed new one in CR2008?

if you have created it in CR10 then, Some times it will not work so you need to open it in 2008 and delete the count, and again put it.

    All the Best.

I created a brand new report in CR2008 and I am using a different database than the one I was using with CR10.

I installed CR2008 in a new computer and created a brand new report with a new database.  I don't have the code.  I simply click on Insert, choose Summary, I then choose the field that I want to Summarize and then I choose Count and finally I choose where to place the count (at the report footer).  In the old version that would always give me count of records on my report and it would automatically change as I changed the search criteria and the number of records on the report was changing.  Now the number always stays the same and it is the total number of records in my database, even if my report only has three records.
