    Hello,

if I start a thread or if I reply to a thread, I get e-mail notifications every time there's
any further activity on that thread, either by myself or by someone else.  This is good!

There are some specific threads that I find interesting and possibly very useful
that I would like to follow closely via e-mail notifications.  How can I do this
without actually replying to those threads?  For me, this would be very useful.

    Please advise.

    Thank you.

    Regards,
    Gerry (Lowry)

You can toggle a subscription to a thread:

Steve, thank you for your answer.

You've imo identified a usability issue here, specifically "Email Subscription Disabled/Enabled"
intuitively (at least to me) has a too global-seeming button name.  While in fact I now realize
that it's thread specific, which is I wanted, if it were up to me, I'd change the button to read:

[Subscribe to this thread] or [Unsubscribe to this thread]

    depending on context.

The current labels describe the current "state" whereas the labels that I'm suggesting intuitively,
    imo, describe the "pending state" thus implying more intuitively the current "state";
i.e., if the button reads "Subscribe to this thread" it is imo more obvious (at least to me)
that I will become subscribed to a single thread should I choose to click the button.

With the current button label, my irrational fear was that I would disable all threads
    to which I'm currently subscribed.

You help is very much appreciated.

    gerrylowry:
[Subscribe to this thread] or [Unsubscribe to this thread]

Perhaps in the long distant past, that feature was styled more like a toggle and that is how its text came came to be the way it is.  Currently though it is styled like a button and buttons perform actions.  So i would agree that the text should denote the buttons action.  The suggestioned text proposed by Gerry looks good to me.  I vote yes on that change.

Hi, Mike ... your yes plus my yes means 100% of us voted yes ... in seriousness,
what's the chance that our votes will get this implemented?

Our 2 votes are just 2 out of 400,000+ members.  But looking up at JayNue's post seeking requested features and improvements, I'd guess that they are actively looking for ways to make the site better/easier to use.  Simple changes like this that make the site more intuitive should definitely have a good chance at getting on a change list somewhere.  So i'm optimistic on this one.

I tried to add this suggestion to JayNue's post, but his post is locked and does
not allow replies ... reminds me of the office suggestion box without a slot
    to insert suggestions.

Any idea where we can locate Jay Esguerra's suggestion box?
