I’ve just installed sql server 2008 on a vista server, unfortunately I forgot to enable remote connection when I was installing it. As I need this feature really I tried to enable
I but “Surface Area Configuration” of sql 2005 seems to be vanished in this new version. Despite
I searched like 2 hours, I couldn’t find any useful solution,
interestingly all the results are either nonsense or related to 2005 version.
Please me what the hell should I do and I believe many people will use your answer!

Do you have Sql Server Management Studio. If yes, then you can open it and right click the instance in question, go to Properties -> Connections -> Check "Allow remote connections to this server".
You might also have to enable TCP/IP Protocol to be enabled thru Configuration Manager.
I am running SQL 2008 on Windows Server 2003, not Vista, and connecting to it using Windows 7. Is there a firewall setting somewhere, stopping me from connecting to ? If so, I cannot find it. Or is it a different issue? I have checked on the things in
this post. Thanks.

"Allow remote connections to this server" was already checked and TCP/IP was enabled [:'(]

Ridicules , it was vista firewall, once agane firewall teased someone ! thankfuly I learned how to enable reamote connection on 2008 at least !

hi
you have to open port 1433 for TCP , beware that you also need to use VS.net 2008 SP1 inorder to work with SQL 2008 without any problem !
