My vwd solution sits on a server. I have mapped the folders to my laptop. I can open the solution but unable to add new webforms. I get the message access denied.

First, server admin needs to grant you RW access to the server file share. Second, you may need to adjust .NET security policy using caspol.exe since network locations are not considered trusted in .NET. Any reason you don't want to open site from http:// ?
