My experience with them ended very bad although in the beginning it was ok.

First of all they stopped providing MySQL option, although I paid for it. They didn't try to solve this problem, simply stated they are discountinuing.

In Sept 2008 they had serious problems with mail and lost a lot of mails (server was accepting them, but didn't store, very funny:( )

Also in the early 2008 they had serious problems and the hosting was for a week down. After repairing, they did no compensations and even deleted all message about the failure on their forum.

Also they charged for a year from my card without asking me. And a week before they wrote to me, that they are not more accepting payments for a year (only monthly payments).

Now they say to me that further contact with their support will be charged 75$/hour. :)))

    Hello,

If you are not happy you could change the Host.

    Regards

I'd recommend to change your host and post a review to http://hostjury.com

And ask them to refund your yearly payment. If they do not do that in a week, tell them you are going to make a chargeback and they'll refund your money. It is cheaper than lose your money + pay a chargeback penalty.

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;

Wow that's a crazy story, but somehow I think there might be another side to it.

I have my Web Hosting with ReliableSite.Net and can recommend them.

    Hosting Coupons.

I have to concur with rapik here. While I am not a big user of MySQL I also saw the email where they basically said "go away" to all of the MySQL users.

I have personally witnessed their customer service and uptime steadily go downhill over the past year.

I can also concur about their forums where all negative posts are deleted and all mentions of the serious outage they had have been deleted as well. No one posts there anymore.

Currently, I have a VPS with them that has been down for 2.5 days and their support has not responded to me in over a day and my sites all remain offline.

They just are not being professional.

I am very sorry to hear this happening by a company who was well known for their hosting services some days back. The better part is that you are sharing your experience in this open forum and they will not be able to delete the posts here!!

I think it is big time for you to move before there are any further damages done. Regarding MySQL, it is just a classic example of lack of server management knowledge as I have seen lot of other host providing MySQL services for years and without any issues. I am using mysql database for one of my CRM application hosted with softsyshosting.com and it is working great so there has to be some issue with ultima hosts that they are not able to resolve.

    Thanks,

    -Kilko

Agreed that it is a shame. I liked them very much in the past but as I said everything has gone down hill this year. The main bad part (for me) is that I am on a yearly contract and am locked in for quite some time.

I also agree on the server management point - they were not able to get PHP working on my windows VPS when clearly it is possible and done by many people but ultimahosts just throws up their hands and says "sorry too bad for you"

Not sure how they'd be able to survive with this attitude and services.

Anyways, hoping that your vps comes back up soon and it does not cost you much!

    Thanks,

I have a VPS with www.dotnetpark.com and PHP+mySQL are running fine as long as ASP.NET+MSSQL. Also I have had several shared hosting accounts with Dotnetpark for several years and never seen a single issue with mySQL. My friends still have shared accounts with them and confirm all is fine. I also used to use mySQL with other Windows hosters (on my clients' accounts), WordPress and phpBB are running fine on Windows+PHP+mySQL.

If your host is not able to manage mySQL, stay away from them! It is unprofessional. And do not be calm and silent, spread your word on hosting review sites. Like HostJury, 123aspx, etc. Only this way we can influence. Otherwise bad hosts will cheat more and more. They delete bad reviews from their forums, but they can not delete from 3rd-party sites like HostJury.

I have my sites hosted with UltimaHosts also. My site has been down for at least 48 hours. I've had different web hosting companies over the past 10 years and I have never had a site down for this long.

I'm looking for a new hosting company that provides me the same type of  ASP.NET hosting Ultimahosts provided for the same price of $35/Month. One of the most important things for me is to be able to have 10 domains names and unlimited subdomains with this account. I've been looking but no one seems to offer this option at this price.

    kilko,

Thanks for your webhosting suggestions. I'm moving my sites tonight whether or not Ultimahosts resolves the problem. I think I will be going with Softsys Hosting. Their reseller plan is very much like Ultimahosting and a bit cheaper.

    Thanks.

I have used softsys myself for a couple of months and would recommend them as well.

I would also note that last night there were two posts on the ultimahosts forums that were discussing the outage which were then deleted by UltimaHosts.

Nice sense of priorities to delete forum posts rather than answering support tickets or fixing the server problem.

    Hi IamNewton, jhar,

I just posted below message in other thread. I am very happy and relaxed now to have a good sleep as all of my websites are working very well now Big Smile

I signed up here now to post that I am also in the same boat as you all. I do not have words to speak for Ultima host. They are pathetic. After learning this, I decided to switch over to softsyshosting (luckily I had all backups with me) and the experience has been fantastic. I have signed up for Reseller Gold plan of softsyshosting and all of my websites have started working very smoothly. I can also see good amount of performance improvement with softsyshosting as heavy database websites are loading very very fast.
