    All-

I just downloaded Club Starter Kit (CSK) 2.0. Here's what I did to attempt to launch it.

    1. I started Visual Web Developer 2008. (This is what I have. I also have SQL Server Express 2005 to support the database.)
    2. I selected File - Open Web Site, and opened the main directory for the CSK files.
    3. When prompted, I said Yes to convert the asp.net 2.0 application to asp.net 3.5.
    4. I hit F5 (as suggested by the CSK documentation) to launch the app. I got this message: "There were build errors. Would you like to continue with the last successful build?" This didn't look promising, so I clicked "No".
    5. I selected file Default.aspx file and attempted to "View in browser".  I got this parser error: "Parser Error Message: The server tag 'asp:ScriptManager' is ambiguous. Please modify the associated registration that is causing ambiguity and pick a new tag prefix."

    So I'm stuck.

    Questions

    1. Particular question: Is there any way I circumvent the problems I describe above to launch CSK with the tools that I have (  VWD, SQL Server Express)?
    2. General questions: Are there any guidelines for launching and modifying any starter kit using these tools? (I've tried launching other starter kits in the past and had similar difficulties.) If not, are there specific starter kits that are meant to be VWD/SQL Server Express friendly?

Much obliged for your help in advance!

There is a 3 versions of Club Starter kit in "community Starter kits " page , make sure to install the asp,net 3.5 version .

you can also install the old versions of the starter kit , if you want to use starter kit that is buil for .net 2.0 , you need to make sure that you changed some ajax dll version from your web.config file ,

and also you need to make sure that you installed Ajax extensions for asp.net 2.0 ,because its required for asp.net 2 to support ajax .

asp.net 3.5 doesn't need to isntall the mentioned ajax extensions , because the extensions is built in the framework.
