I work for a big industry that have lots of power excel users.

Some of them that work in the supply department can build really complex excel spreadsheets of great value for the company.

But they don't have a database of this valuable information.

So they asked me to build a solution that stores this large amount of data in an Oracle database for future use.

They are able to use this data to create even more complex reports.

So my system needs to generate this reports as well.

I know Sharepoint offers me a great solution for keeping all this valuable information in a SQL Server Database without loosing the usabillity of excel, which the users all love and I wouldn't dare to try to recreate.

Excel services seems to be a solution to think about.

But, what if they don't agree to pay for more licences? Can I still use SharePoint and, kind of, simulate what excel services does on my own?

Or is it better to keep the Oracle approach?

    Thanks
