Can anyone tell me how to delete recent files and project  from FILE MENU in Visual Studio 2005 

in your documents there will be a folder called visual studio2005. inside that there will be  folders called project, websites. clean up those folders.

This action only deletes the project or project file. Because of the record (For example, the start page lists the projects that have been most recently used)is saved in Registry.

You can try to remove the project from the Recent Projects list by following steps below:

1. Click Start, click Run, type Regedit, and then click OK.

2. Locate and then click the following key in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\ProjectMRUList

3. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click Yes to confirm.

4. Close Registry Editor.

To simplify the operation, I have made a plugin file vs2008.txt for the software SuperCool Window Wash to clear VS 2008 Recent Projects

Steps:

1. Download and install SuperCool Window Wash at http://www.supercoolbookmark.com/download/supercoolwindowwash109.zip

2. Download  the Zip package of the plugin file at http://www.supercoolbookmark.com/vs2008.zip and extract vs2008.txt to you disk

3. Run SuperCool Window Wash and import wash items from PlugIn file vs2008.txt

4. Click Wash button to clear VS 2008 Recent Projects
