Im about to do some project work at a client location that uses the lastest version of Dreamweaver (CS3) for asp.net as well as general web development.  Ive very little experience with DW, as Im a long time  Visual Studio user.  What am i getting myself into ?

    - Does DW do code-behind ?
    - How is the DW debugger compared to VS  ?
    - How well does DW integrate with the .Net framework, ive heard that it uses its own unique integration methods

    help !

          Nope

    - How is the DW debugger compared to VS  ?
           It doesn't have one

    - How well does DW integrate with the .Net framework, ive heard that it uses its own unique integration methods
The answers to the first two questions prevented me from ever examining the third.

     help !
           You will need it.

May be Dreamweaver CS3 is not the best choice to develop ASP.NET pages with code behind, was great for ASP web pages, does not  have a debugger like VS, but you are closer to the code, you will create excellent web pages with both, it depends of your programming skills, whatever, i like to use Dreamweaver CS3, sometimes VWD may be too complex for easy solutions.

if u prefer VWD go http://www.microsoft.com/express/vwd/ and You can compare yourself

Just Give It a Chance to DW CS3

The question didn't ask if DW CS3 was any good for anything other than replacing VWD for ASP.NET development, and I can't see how anyone can argue that it is.  However, if I was asked if DW was any good for anything else, I would, without hesitation, recommend it as the first choice tool for developing web sites in anything other than ASP.NET.  I use it for classic ASP and for flat html development.  I also understand it has a built-in debugger for ColdFusion, and I know that the 2008 release of VWD borrowed a lot of ideas from DW in terms of CSS management.

It is a great product.  Just not (in my opinion) for ASP.NET.

    Big Smile
