    Hi folks,

Could someone point me to a walkthrough on using the recent update of the Dynamic Data Wizard? I might be doing something wrong...

    Here's what happens...

    1. Start the wizard and point to a Microsoft SQL Server Database file (AdventureWorksLT).
    2. On the Create a Data Model from the Database screen,  select all the tables but no views, stored procedures or functions. The table names appear in the tree.
    3. Click Next. A msgbox says "Could not retrieve schema information for database object Address." (After removing the Address table, it complains about the Customer table in the same way.)
    4. The rest of the wizard creates some basic files but nothing related to the database that it couldn't read.

Does the DDW not support the database file model? I'm able to create regular dynamic sites using the Dynamic Data Web Site template.

    Thanks,

    Ken

    Hi Ken,

We have some known issues around SQL Server Database files and certain database schemas in the wizard, so it is more than likely that you are doing nothing wrong.  The wizard DOES support the database file model and so any issues will be fixed.  Just so we can reproduce this problem, are you using the adventureworksLT file from the Codeplex SQL samples site (http://codeplex.com/SqlServerSamples)?  Thanks.

PS: Don't forget you can file bugs on our Code Gallery site's Issue Tracker if and when you encounter problems (http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/dynamicdata/WorkItem/List.aspx)

    Thanks for the info.

I've installed the May 20 drop and have the identical problem as in my original post. Angry

    Thanks for your quick response!

Yes, I used the CodePlex version of adventureworksLT.

I'll file the bug and repro steps on the site.

If you discover/fix the issue before I give my Energize IT presentation on Saturday, make sure I get a special MVP Presenter drop? Big Smile
