    Hi,

I've VS 2008 Pro edition (RTM) with some hot fixes applied already. However, I've a strange problem with master pages and Design view. The Design view gives an error when I switch to Design view, saying it can't render the page. Also, when I create content page using the master page, the Design view for the content page doesn't show anything, it shows a blank page as if there is nothing. I've to note that everything works just fine in run-time.

Is this a bug in VS 2008 or there is a setting that I don't know about?

    Thanks a million.

I usually get this error when I have an html error in the master page.  Are you sure there are no html errors in the error list?

    I have the same problem.

Best you I can do at the moment is either.

    1) go back to code view and delete some empty space

    2) View - Refers works

Anyone knows why this is happening?

I had both StyleSheetTheme and Theme set.

Removing the StytleSheetTheme in the Content Page Header fixted this problem for me.

    Regards Markus

I have not had any problems like you have described.  I typically refrain from setting a theme or stylesheet in any Content or Master Page if I can keep from doing so.  I set the theme in the web.config file which allows me to more easily manage my Themes and Stylesheets.

Why don't computers do what I want them to do instead of....what I tell them to do!?!?!?

Wow, that seemed obvious, but doing this has not only gotten rid of master page warnings (styles not defined) but also appears to have solved a number of other issues I was having when using the stylesheet property per page.

    Thanks very much!
