    You can try to use DIV to popup your message with close button to close that window.

    just use visibility=hidden or display=none to hidden your div

    <input type="button" id="btn" title="Show Detail" style="height:20px" onclick="divToggle('divDetail');" value="Show/Hide Detail" />

    <div id="divDetail">Close button here</div>

    <script type='text/javascript'>

    function divToggle(divID) {

    if (document.getElementById(divID).style.display == 'none')

    document.getElementById(divID).style.display = 'block';

    else document.getElementById(divID).style.display = 'none';

    }

    </script>

    On your page:

    <script type="text/javascript">
    function ConfirmClose()
    {
        if (confirm("Do you want to close the window?")){window.close();}
    }
    </script>

    Then just call the 'ConfirmClose()' javascript method however it seems necessary.

    That isn't really what he asked for though... And no offense, but that example is nowhere near as functional and nice as the 'Ajax Control Toolkit's 'ModalPopup' control, so you'd be crazy not to use that.
