Hello Gang,

I normally stay tucked away, safe inside my company's intranet and have had very few dealings with our internet site. I have been asked to help with getting our site to show up higher in the search results of search engines. We already have a book stuffed into the meta tags within the site and I have been googling for the past 30 minutes. With so many different avenues to take, I am still wondering "what is the best way to go??" So that is my question, what is the best way to get our site higher in the search engine indexes? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am curious about this as well.  I deal with more intranet then internet, but from what I have gathered from a few I have talked to they have used SEO's,  the company put meta tags in the pages and added a resources link on his home page.  They didn't do too much.  I personally think the best way to show up in the search engines is to have well written content.  meta tags don't hurt, but content is the way to go unless you want to start paying for keywords so you do show up as a sponsor or in the top search results.  I know this isn't much of an answer so I would like to see what others think as well.
