    hi friends

any idea whether Silverlight 2.0 is coming with Visual studio 2008 Beta version. If not hope Silverlight will be integrated with default visual studio 2008 official release.

Hope Silvelight is not having any connection with WPF as Silverlight is something media/graphics related.

Any good link from where I can learn Silverlight step by step how to create one silverlight application.

    thanx and regards

    samir

Silverlight doesn't ship w/ VS 2k8 but ... you can download the sdk here:

     http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/resources/tools.aspx

Be carefull on what you choose to download. I almost grabbed the stand alone Silverlight sdk - which wouldn't have played very nice (if not at all) w/ VS 2k8

So make sure you download the beta version for VS 2k8

    Hi Hisamir,

You should take a look at the beta release of the Silverlight tools for Visual Studio, which includes not only all of the content of the Silverlight 2 SDK, but also templates and add-ons that simplify developing Silverlight applications in Visual Studio 2008.  It's available for download here.

You have to install the service pack to get the Silverlight 2.0. Also, install the Silverlight SDK to develop Silverlight applications.

Silverlight has lot of overlap with WPF, however, you can learn Silverlight independently without having to get in to WPF.

You can find some Silverlight tutorials for beginners here.
