getting strating with silverlight a friend told me first to install "Silverligh SDK" .

i have visual c# and visual web developer Express edition installed on my machine
i downloaded "Silverlightv1.0SDK.msi" and installed it but when i try to accessed
it from Start>>Programs>>Microsoft Silverlight 1.0 SDK>>Silverlight 1.0 Visual Studio 2005 template
i got the followinf error
"Microsoft Silverlight 1.0 SDK Visual Studio 2005 Template requires Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 to be
installed. See the Microsoft Silverlight 1.0 SDK Visual Studio 2005 Template Release Notes for more information."

tell me is there any silverlight SDK for express edition(I ve c# and VWD express edition running).
can u please tell should i install Visual studio 2005 or can i correct this with express edition(of c# and VWD) installed.

Hi Ahmed,

You're correct in observing that the templates included in the Silverlight 1.0 SDK are specifically for Visual Studio 2005.  It's a little unfair to say that the SDK is "for" Visual Studio, since the help files, quickstarts, and javascript files can be used by anyone, even if Visual Studio isn't installed.

Starting with Silverlight 2, there will be a way to install the other SDK components without having to install templates for Visual Studio.

Hi Ahmed, 

In short, yes.  All of the other resources in the SDK are still very relevant to you and should help you get started.  However, you won't be able to use the templates without Visual Studio 2005.

My encouragement to you would be to go through the quickstarts to learn about the structure of Silverlight 1.0 applications.  Although the Visual Studio templates you asked about do provide a convenient environment in which to develop Silverlight applications; the resulting output will be a number of javascript, XAML, and HTML files, any of which can be edited in a simple text editor.  Strictly speaking, you don't need any plugins at all to begin development.
