I'm using a remote IIS server to develop on. On the server I have a web app project (not a website project).

In VS05 I could open the project, run and debug fine. When I try the same thing with VS08, it won't let me set the IIS address as the remote server - it says the local server is not configured for that app (I know that you stupid program. That's why I entered a remote server address, not localhost!)

Anyone know how to fix this, or should I just continue using VS05?

Did you try to create sample web project and do remote IIS server to develop on?

If it is, you can easy to add your project to vs.net 08 created solution.

    Answer

VS 2008 does not support WAP on remote IIS, only on localhost. It used to work in some cases in 2005, but largely accidentally. Sorry about that.

    Thanks
