    Hi,

On a fresh install of Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP1 (RC) I have the following problem.   I have created a new webproject and when I try to browse the website using Internet Explorer (F5) I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." error.  Show friendly http errors is off and "allow script debugging" is on in internet explorer, but that does not provide me with a better error description.

I also tried with an empty web project containing a plain and simple html file but still the same problem.  Browsing the site using the Visual Studio internal web browser does not have this problem and works as it should.  Please help.

I have the same problem. I just installed the VISTA SP1 refresh and have the same problem still. If I set Firefox to my default browser it works but it does not work with IE.

The same here. Windows Vista x64 SP1. Fresh install. IE 7 doesn't open the site, but Firefox 2.0 does. I am using VS 2005. Did you guys try installing the IIS 6 Compatibility Mode?

I found out that once I launch debug, if I change the localhost address to 127.0.0.1 it will work. Is there anyway to get the debugger to launch using the local IP address instead of localhost?

hi. I've a similar problem. The problem occurred about  2 weeks ago and the editing in hosts file solved the issue. But now facing the same problem again. the hosts file is already changed. Website also not  working in Visual Web Developer 2008 Express internal browser. Please suggest some solution.

I had reinstalled windows and I too have this problem again but the local host does not work this time around. I've made Firefox my default browser and all works under it.
