Server Explorer disappeared from Visual Studio 2005.  It won't reappear with <view><Server Explorer> or <Window><Reset Window Layout>.  Any suggestions.

In the tools menu select import or export settings.  Select reset all settings in the wizard

Tools-Import Export Settings did not help.

Please try to run “devenv /resetsettings” or “devenv /setup” in Visual Studio 2005 Command Prompt.

Same thing happend to me just now after upgrading the systems RAM i had a nasty crash with VS 2008. it was constantly coming up with the VS 2008 has experienced a problem and every time i selected send or do not send, it would still pop up, i restarted the machine and then the server explorer would not come on. i had this error message in the output window

 The Visual Studio Explorers and Designers Package ({8D8529D3-625D-4496-8354-3DAD630ECC1B}) did not load because of previous errors. For assistance, contact the package vendor. To attempt to load this package again, type 'devenv /resetskippkgs' at the command prompt.

 to fix this type devenv /setup into the command prompt under VS2008 > VS2008 tools > commad prompt.

i know the chaps above have alredy stated this but i want people to know that this is also the fix for VS2008

im having the same problem.. im running windows vista and vs2008 and it happens quite a lot.. and ive done /resetsettings many times ..it used to wirk.. but now it just doesnt... now i tried what truegilly says.. /resetskippkgs and it works perfectly.. thanks a lot

Just a note...
After installing the latest Silverlight tools for VS2008 I couldn't get the Server Explorer to show, tried everything.
Neither of these helped: devenv /resetsettings ...or... devenv /setup
I've used "resetsettings" in the past but this time the only VS command that resolved this was devenv /resetskippkgs .
If you run this on Vista make sure you run the VS2008 command window as an Administrator or it won't work.
Don't be confused, even if your user account is an Admin you still need to run that command window as an Administrator on Vista.

Had the same problem under VS2008. Thanks devenv /resetskippkgs worked.
BTW, for those interested and just for clarification -- run under command prompt means the common7/ide folder.
