If you are writing a page, in design view, double click a button to add it to the page, click next to it, to deselect it and double click on a new button on the toolbar again to add another in. Select the first one and do something with it like change its name or text. You will find that the actions you just performed happened to the other button even though you can clearly see the first button is selected in the design area, but the properties are displayed for button2.

Does anyone else have this issue or is it the way I am holding the mouse or something.(!!?!)

I noticed the same issue once and I think its due to caching in VS. A simple restart of the IDE worked in my case. Try this and see if the same thing happens even after a restart.

Do you suggest to restart the IDE after each button added to each page? It is just a little bug in the IDE. As long as you are careful, it will not harm your code. You have to make sure that what is selected is what appears in the properties window. Is anyone aware if it is on the bug list for VS.NET express? Is there a bug list?

Just restart it once (I am using VS 2005), in my case it worked. Here is the link to the bugs that were fixed in VS 2005 SP1:

This has happened to me a few times, restarting is not the best solution. What I do is select the components through the dropdownlist on the properties tab. I know how frustrating it is to select a button, change the properties, and then find out you changed the wrong button. I hope it does get worked out in the next service pack or update.

I am glad that someone else has the same issue as me. I would imagine that they will resolve this by a way of update, but as SP1 has not been out long and it is not critical, it will be some time.....
