this keeps popping up intermittantly, and i have not been able to find a reason on these forums or the web as to why this happens.

the error keeps referring to a designer.cs file.

does anyone have any remedies for this?

 i am using vs2005 team edition with sp1, running a vs2003  .net 1.1 project that has been converted to vs2005 .net 2.0 (version  v2.0.50727)

 I am also Getting the same error.

I have Vs2005 team system with SP1.

And using a web application project.

What I done is simply close the solution.Delete Asp.net temprory files

 Run disk clean up.Restart IIS. and delete backup project.

Then it starts working again.  

Shouldn't this post is deserve to mark as answer ?  

I am agreed with Kamran, I also use to delete the temp. Files, if someone have a permanent solution, then please post

 A simpler two-step fix is to:

1) Right-click the designer file and select delete
2) Right-click the aspx file and select Convert to Web Application

I get this frequently too, and I think it stems from some sequence of editing the aspx file while the app is running in debug.

Another solution (that worked for me) is to edit both the .aspx and .cs files and recompile.

(You don't have to change the files, you can just add and delete a character - enough to set the "changed" flag.)

Just

1. close application if runing,

2. delete all files under obj nad bin directories

3. run clean from solution, then rebuild.
