Please forgive me if I am being stupid - I'm new to ASP.NET. I am trying to install the AJAX Control Toolkit in Visual Web Developer Express Edition. I have unzipped the sample website and copied the AjaxControlToolkit.dll over to the bin directory of my website, but the controls do not appear in my toolbar. I only have the general AJAX extensions. What else do I need to do to install them?

Apologies - I was being stupid. I somehow missed the instructions about adding  a new toolbar ad then adding items to it. But I still have a problem. When I go to "choose items" and hen browse to the toolkit dll, I get an error message:

There was an eroor loading types from assembly bla bla bla .... Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0 ....' failed.

Why would this be?

I solved it - had to do with the trust granted to the intranet zone.

I have the exact same problem, too. How do I fix this "trust" thing?

Actually, my error is different. It says "Could not load file or assembly 'AjaxControlToolkit, version=1.0.10301.0, Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=28f01b0e84b6d53e' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."

I m getting the asme error. Can you tell me how you solved the issue?

I'm glad to see that someone else is having difficulties with the toolbar.  In my case the missing group is the Standard Tools.  From the number of people who are having this problem either stupidity is rampant or Microsoft has built a bear trap which has caught a number of us.  The Standard ToolBar was initially present and I was able to create some test websites.  Then one day the Standard toolbar was gone!  I have tried reinstalling VWD 2008, but the problem persists.  So I too wait and hope that someone can provide detailed instructions to solve the problem.   

I don't know the reason the Standard Tools left the Toolbar, but I was able to correct the problem by uninstalling VWD, deleting all references to VWD in the registery and reinstalling VWD.
