ATLAS mades it easily possible to make a call "in the background" to refresh some controls that require slow DB queries (for example).

Given such ATLAS features, I was wondering whether the IHttpAsyncHandler should be used or not any more. Indeed, most of the code tutorial that I have seen (this one for ex) seems to be better suited for ATLAS than for a custom async http handler.

Does anyone has some insights on the topic?
