    Thanks for the module David,

Is there a simple way of adding the possibility to filter more than one field at the time ?

    Thanks in advance
    Leif

The simplest would be to go into the source and copy the code for the first filter to a second filter...
the right way to do it would involve significant changes to the interface and would take at least a day...

When do you expect to release a DNN 3.0 version?

I got a version of 2.1 (calling it 3.1) mostly working on DNN 3.0 this morning... I still have a few fixes to make and things to figure out, but I hope to have it out in the next couple of days.

Alrighty, 3.1 is now available from my site. It has the exact same functionality as 2.1.

And for those that are curious, here's a list of the changes I had to make:
1.) In the x.dnn file I changed the DNN version number from 2 to 3, That's it so far. Eventually, I'll need to put a variety of stuff in a resource file and upload those but that's later...

2.) My classes now inherit from DotNetNuke.Entities.Modules.PortalModuleBase rather than DotNetNuke.PortalModuleControl

3.) Module Settings are now written and read from a class called Entities.Modules.ModuleController instead of just AdminDB. I didn't have to change the way I made the calls.

4.) HelpFile has been removed and theres a different system for storing this now... I still need to figure this piece out.

5.) GetDBConnectionString is now in DotNetNuke.Common

6.) ProcessModuleLoadException is now in DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions

That's it. Couldn't have been much easier.

As usual, nice work...I still can't wait for inline editing. Is the inline editing going to be available in both the 3.x and 2.x versions?

Version 3.1.3 Beta of Efficion's Advanced DataGrid has just been made available. As this version is still considered beta, it is not recommended for live sites until it has been officially released (hopefully next week).

    New Features:
    -Moved style stuff to module.css
-Moved Settings to DNN3 Settings page
-If a filter is specified and "Display All" isn't checked, the datagrid won't populate until a filter is selected.

    OleDave:

Again as always, I would lilke to thank you for your contributions to the Dnn community.

While I realize that you are extremely busy with all of your modules, what I would like to see that would make a tremendous difference in the future utilization of your Advanced Datagrid module from the developer standpoint would be to provide the ability for the developer to easily include in-line editing of the resulting data grid.  If the set-up portion of the module would let the developer/administrator dictate which data elements could be altered and/or added to it would be a tremendous addition towards allowing the delivering real interactive data processing.  Just an idea!  If you could, please give me a best guess about when this function could be implemented.  Also, if you need any help, don't hestitate to request it because you have obviously given a lot of your valuable time to the community.

I tried to your forum e-mail button to contact you about this request, but I got an e-mail error back from the servers.  Dave, I started my businesses in St. Louis back in the early 1980's with the majority of my business coming from Anheuser-Busch and McDonnell Douglas.  I also recognize most of the taverns that you have listed in your sample grid.  I would be more than happy to finish the story some other time.  Go Cards and DNN.

    Thanks,

To all those patiently waiting for Inline Editing, I'd like to apologize for the extensive delay and the complete lack of communication... unfortunately, client work takes precedence cause food is good. But I do want to give you a brief update on where things are...

Many moons ago, a wonderful chap named Richard Thurgood wrote a DNN DataGrid module that included inline editing and sent it to me to integrate into ADG... then another lovely fellow named George Paterson took Richard's work and integrated it into the then current version of the ADG... and it works! But it's a bit difficult to use and has some rather severe limitations. I feared releasing it at that stage would become a support nightmare and so instead, I wanted to improve it some and then release it...

Problem is, I've been so busy with client work since then that I've really only been able to make rather quick and easy improvements to my modules, or, add features that my clients pay me to add and give me rights to share.

The good news here, is that I have due early next week, an Editable version of the Advanced DataGrid, and I have negotiated it with my client such that I will retain full ownership of the code, and which I will continue to offer as Open Source... However, this version will not include inline editing but instead will use a separate edit page but I do anticipate it moving the inline editing piece forward considerably.

I'm more than happy to accept help with any aspect of any of my modules. I've just made the source code for the outdated (and only for DNN 2x) editable version available here. I'll add the known limitations and ideas for improvements to that page  over the next couple of days.

    David:

Thank you for the quick response.  Sounds very promising for next week.  I just downloaded your new source (ADG 3.1.3) and I will review tomorrow.  I will definitely hold off on trying to modify until after you post next week's results.  Will stay tuned...

Again, thanks for your continued efforts.

For people who've downloaded 3.1.3, a bug was discovered today that will cause an error if the Display More Articles Link is checked. It seems an 's' got deleted somehow... I've put new zips on the site, or you can just go into ArticleList.ascx and change "lnkMoreArticle" to "lnkMoreArticles".

I assume your component can read from a MS Excel File...  Can you give an example of what the connection string would look like for this??  Thanks
